Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, defends her after critics slam Dolly’s cheerleader outfit.
Dolly performed during the NFL halftime show on Thanksgiving while the Dallas Cowboys played the Washington Commanders. She decided to wear a bedazzled Cowboys cheerleader costume, including a blue long-sleeved crop top, a white vest with blue stars and matching shorts.
Some fans expressed their disapproval of the outfit online.
Stella defended her sister on X, stating, “I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the halftime show on Thanksgiving. To those of you being so critical of a 77-year-old kicking up her heels, I say f— yourself. Shame on you, not her.”
During her performance, Dolly asked the crowd their opinion on her look and said, “Hey Cowboys and Commanders, stop fighting and sing along with me.” She sang her hit songs “Jolene” and “9 to 5.” She ended her show with her rendition of “We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You” while the cheerleaders joined her on the field. Her performance was shared on X.
Her show last Thursday comes a week after she released her first rock album, Rockstar, on November 17. This includes 30 tracks with nine original songs and 21 rock covers from the singers, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Paul McCartney, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Ringo Starr and more. Her covers include the hits “Let It Be,” “Stairway to Heaven,” “Purple Rain,” “Heart of Glass,” “Heartbreaker” and “Wrecking Ball.”
