Roseanne Barr
Roseanne, the hit sitcom from the 90s, might be making a comeback on TV.
Several main cast members, including Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert, have reportedly signed on for an eight-episode limited reboot of the series. Laurie Metcalf and others are still in negotiations. Several producers from the original series have also signed on.
Barr tweeted on Saturday that she wants to do a reboot of the show and that the “new political reality in our country will make for some great jokes.”
The original Roseanne was broadcast from 1988-1997 and was the most-watched TV show in the United States in 1989 and 1990. It followed the life of a working-class family in a fictional town in Illinois.
Multiple networks, including ABC and Netflix, are bidding on rights for the project. There is no set time frame for when the reboot will be aired yet.
