70-Year-Old Man Rams Car Into Gate Of Jennifer Aniston’s $21M Mansion, Held At Gunpoint By Security
An intruder who crashed into Jennifer Aniston’s Los Angeles residence was held at gunpoint by Aniston’s security.
The driver, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, ran his car through the gate of Aniston’s $21 million home in Bel-Air 20 minutes after noon on May 5.
Aniston’s security quickly took charge, rushing to pull Carwyle out of the vehicle and detaining him until Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived.
An LAPD public information officer shared, “A driver approximately 70 years of age rammed his vehicle through the gate to the residence and gained access to the property…There was a security guard on premises who was able to detain that suspect until officers arrived, at which time they took him into custody without incident.”
Authorities reported that while Aniston was home at the time of the incident, she was not injured and did not come into contact with the Carwyle or the car. Carwyle was hospitalized with back injuries from the crash.
The LAPD said that the incident could have been accidental, and said that there was no indication that Carwyle had intentions of harming Aniston.
An investigation into the matter is underway, conducted by the LAPD’s Threat Management Unit, which has previously worked with Aniston, after she had been swatted. Authorities said they expect Carwyle to be charged with felony vandalism.
Aniston’s residence is over 8,500 square feet, and features dramatic views of the city and ocean, along with four bedrooms, six-and-a-half baths, a pool, a wine cellar, and a guesthouse. It was designed by noted architect A. Quincy Jones and completed in 1965. In a 2018 interview with Architectural Digest, Aniston shared that she had redone the estate with the aid of designer Stephan Shadley.
