The cast of the upcoming Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been announced.
Seven actors who appeared in the West End production of the play will reprise their roles. These include the main three roles, with Jamie Parker as Harry Potter, Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger, and Paul Thornley as Ron Weasley. Other are Poppy Miller as Ginny Potter, Sam Clemmett as Albus Potter, Alex Price as Draco Malfoy, and Anthony Boyle as Scorpius Malfoy.
Three Chicago actors will join that team on Broadway as well. Alex Weisman, Jessie Fisher, and James Romney will add their talents to the cast. Weisman, a graduate of Northwestern, recently starred in Victory Gardens Theater’s production of Hand to God, while Romney, a grad of UChicago’s College for Performing Arts, appeared in Fly By Night. Both are making their Broadway debuts, while Fisher previously appeared in the Broadway production of Once. In total, 28 new actors will become part of the show in New York.
J.K. Rowling‘s latest addition to the Harry Potter universe has been doing incredibly well on stage. It quickly became the most awarded production in the history of the Olivier Awards, winning nine including for best director and best new play.
Tickets for the Broadway show go on sale on Ticketmaster.com on Oct. 12, with the play opening April 22, 2018. Sign up starting Oct. 1 to be eligible to purchase tickets.
