50 Cent has caught grief over a series of tweets regarding the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan over the weekend. While stars like Jimmy Kimmel were sending messages from locales forced to evacuate, 50 took to his personal account to inject some questionable humor into the devastating events.
“Wave will hit 8 a.m. them crazy white boys gonna try to go surfing," he tweeted Friday morning, shortly after news of the 8.9 magnitude storm had hit. Later Friday afternoon, 50 made a joke of the evacuations that were going on across the Pacific. "Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoe's from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol," he wrote.
Perhaps after receiving some criticism, he apologized for his insensitive remarks. "Nah this is nuts but what can anyone do about it. Let's pray for anyone who has lost someone," he tweeted. But the rapper-actor shortly returned to playful antics, making references to the film 2012, "Man they made a movie about all this 2012 now you think that was a lucky guess," before admitting that he tweets provocative messages purely to get a rise out of people. “Some of my tweets are ignorant I do it for shock value. Hate it or love it. I'm cool either way 50cent." —EMILY EXTON
