The robbers than made off with an estimated $4.8 million in gold bars, weighing a total of 275 pounds.
“Transvalue Inc. deeply regrets the events that transpired yesterday evening. We are pleased that our crew was not harmed. At this time we are working with the authorities to try and resolve this matter,” said CEO of Transvalue Inc. Jay Rodriguez, who employed the security guards involved in the incident.
Transvalue Inc. is offering a $500,000 reward for any information resulting in the arrest of any suspects. The shipment was reportedly en route to Attleboro, Mass.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is currently working with the FBI on the investigation, and are looking into the possibility that the armored truck was sabotaged, suggesting a planned attack.
