The 74th Annual Emmy Awards announced the key categories of nominated shows on the morning of July 12. They were presented by excellent TV comedy actors JB Smoove and Melissa Fumero, who are co-starring in the upcoming Netflix series Blockbuster.
As always the Emmys saw nominations go to established Academy favorites like Insecure, Succession and super-nominated Ted Lasso. They also nominated several exciting new shows that premiered their first seasons last year or early 2022. Freshman sitcom Abbott Elementary saw many nominations for both its cast and writing and other new shows like Severance, Yellowjackets and Squid Game also got several trophy noms.
Two actresses were even nominated for multiple awards in the same year for different shows. Both Sydney Sweeney and Julia Garner are up for consideration for two Emmy Awards. Sweeney is nominated for supporting actress Emmys for Euphoria and The White Lotus, while Garner saw nominations for her excellent performances in Ozark and Inventing Anna.
