2021 Emmy Awards Nominations: ‘The Crown’ & ‘The Mandalorian’ Lead [Full Nominees’ List]

Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (#FreeRayshawn) announced the nominations for the 73rd Emmy Awards on Tuesday morning.

The Crown and The Mandalorian got nominated 23 times each. WandaVisionTed Lasso and The Handmaid’s Tale also were nominated in several categories. Lovecraft, a show that will not be renewed for a second season by HBO, got a total of 18 nominations.

Last year’s award show was a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s ceremony, however, will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will have a limited live audience, with the nominees as guests.

The Television Academy’s Board of Governors said that this year’s Emmys must be more inclusive for gender nonconforming individuals. A nominee or winner of any category is allowed to request they be recognized with gender-neutral titles, such as “Performer.” The words “Actress” and “Actor” will continue to be used.

The award show will air on Sunday, September 19 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The show will also be available to live stream or watch on-demand on Paramount+.
