While the Oscars celebrated the achievements of such films as The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the Golden Raspberry Awards were admiring the less successful works from Hollywood this year.
The Razzies are given out each year on Oscar Sunday to the worst movies that came out of Hollywood during the previous year. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson attended the Razzies to accept his award for the reboot of Baywatch. The film, however, was so bad, that the awards show had to create an entirely new category just for it: A Movie So Rotten You Eventually Fell in Love with It.

Johnson boasted about the prestigious win on his social media accounts. “It’s the #Oscars and Hollywood’s biggest night! So let me go ahead and take this ‘L’ right on the chin for Baywatch,” he wrote in the caption of a video. “It’s Oscar Sunday, I’m super pumped and very proud for my buddies who’ve been nominated tonight. [I’m] pulling for you guys to bring home the gold,” he said at the start of the video. “I’m also excited because I was just informed that I too am bringing home the gold tonight – no, not an Oscar, but maybe one day, but a Razzie. Razzies are the annual awards given out to Hollywood’s worst movies and I have officially won one for Baywatch,” the actor laughed.
“But here’s the cool thing,” he continued. “The movie was so bad, they actually had to create another category, I’m not kidding, the new category is A Movie So Rotten You Eventually Fell in Love With It. I’m not kidding. Which means the s–t sandwich you have been eaten is so bad that you eventually started to like it. Look, we made Baywatch with the best intentions and it didn’t work out like that, but I humbly and graciously accept my Razzie and I thank you critics and thank you fans.”
Baywatch also starred Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach, plus cameos from original Baywatch stars David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
