Grammy nominations are being announced throughout the day Friday, Dec 5, and already Sam Smith is leading the pack with five nominations including Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
The Grammy’s are trying something new this year, announcing the nominations one category at a time throughout the day on Twitter, all culminating with the naming of the nominees for Album of the Year during the broadcasting of CBS’ A Very GRAMMY Christmas Friday night.
So far, Sam Smith appears to be dominating the Grammys with his hit “Stay With Me” and his debut album, In The Lonely Hour. Smith is also nominated for Best New Artist and will go up against Iggy Azalea, also a multiple nominee, Brandy Clark, Bastille and Haim. As of 12 p.m. ET, Smith has received a total of five nominations.
Unsurprisingly, Meghan Trainor’s hit “All About That Bass” has earned her more than one nomination. Trainor is a nominee to take home the Grammy for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
