2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards Recap: Romeo Santos, Enrique Iglesias Dominate, Jennifer Lopez Performs Touching Selena Tribute

Romeo Santos and Enrique Iglesias were the big winners at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, but the moment of the night arguably went to Jennifer Lopez and her tribute performance for Selena.

2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards

The Billboard Latin Music Awards aired Thursday on Telemundo and celebrated the achievements of Marc Anthony, Shakira and Jenni Rivera. Romeo Santos continued to make history, taking home 10 awards in one night, making him the top winner at the show. Santos’ hit album, Formula Vol. 2, won him awards for Top Latin Album of the Year, and Tropical Album of the Year. Santos also picked up awards for Artist of the Year, hot Latin Song Artist of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Iglesias was the second most popular artist of the night, winning nine awards, most for his hit song, “Bailando,” which was crowned the Hot Latin Song of the Year. “I want to thank my fans for their support and love all these years,” Iglesias said during one of his many acceptance speeches.

Jennifer Lopez Pays Tribute To Selena

Jennifer Lopez performed her highly anticipated tribute to Selena Quintanilla, the legendary Latina singer she portrayed in Selena, the film that catapulted Lopez to fame. Lopez performed alongside Selena’s family band, Los Dinos, which included Selena’s sister, Suzette, and her brother A.B. Doing her best Selena dance moves, Lopez sang her way through a medley of Selena hits, “Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “Amor Prohibido,” “I Could Fall In Love” and “No Me Queda Mas.”

Lopez and Los Dinos got a standing ovation after their performance. “Selena was a unique, extraordinary and irreplaceable star, and while she is no longer with us, today her spirit, her grace and her voice are here,” said Pedro Fernandez, who co-hosted the festivities.
