2 People Sent To Hospital After Fight At Arizona Iced Tea x Adidas Pop-Up In Manhattan

The AriZona Iced Tea x Adidas pop up was permanently closed on Thursday.

The event that took place on the Bowery in New York City was crowded with people waiting for their chance to get a free pair of sneakers. Arizona Iced Tea posted on their Instagram that anyone could get one pair of sneakers per person with purchase of a drink for only 99-cents.

After an eruption of violence and chaos, NYPD appeared and had to shut down the event. The pop-up was supposed to last until Friday.

Two people were sent to the hospital after one person was reportedly hit with a bottle by another woman.

“The NYPD had to shut down Adidas’ AriZona Iced Tea pop-up shop in NYC. What happens when you try to sell 99-cent shoes,” tweeted Complex Sneakers.

Adidas has not spoken out about the incident, but has retweeted the drink company’s tweets.

“Thanks to our loyal fans that came out to support our partnerships with Adidas. Due to overwhelming demand and safety concerns, the NYPD shut down our pop-up. We sincerely apologize to all our fans that waited in line. We are actively working to remedy the situation,” tweeted AriZona Iced Tea.

On Friday the company went to Facebook to announce that they will launch a website that will allow fans to get the sneakers in order to make good on the event’s promise.

Those with a wristband or ticket will be able to have first access to the sneakers of their choice.

The exciting collaboration between the 99-cent drink and the famous sportswear brand created three limited-edition sneakers. Each sneaker designs was displayed on Arizona iced tea cans.
