Two men who were involved in the armed robbery of a Brooklyn Bishop and his wife, who were wearing about $400,000 worth of jewelry between themselves, have been arrested. The July service was being live streamed, so online worshippers saw Lamor Whitehead suddenly hit the ground in the middle of a sermon, and then two men in dark clothing coming up on the stage to rob him.
Whitehead seems to be pretty affluent, and he was mildly criticized in the wake of the robbery for apparently flaunting his wealth by driving fast cars, buying huge blocks of apartments, and wearing trendy and very pricey fashion brands.
Juwan Anderson and Say-Quan Pollack were the individuals arrested for suspected connection to the crime, while a third suspect remains at large. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, confirmed what the live stream video seemed to show.
“As alleged, the defendants brought guns into a place of worship, stealing from the members of the clergy, and terrifying the congregation in the process,” he said.
Prosecutors also alleged that Whitehead’s wife had their infant daughter in her lap when she was being robbed and having a gun pointed at her.
