Two employees have been fired from an Ohio branch of Little Caesars after a couple found a backwards swastika made out of pepperoni on their pizza. Misty and Jason Laska noticed what was on their pizza in their home on Saturday night and revealed that they had tried calling the store, but were unable to reach anyone.

Misty then took to Twitter to show the disturbing messages she received on her order. She attached a photo of the pizza and wrote, “So my husband stopped at #LittleCaesars for a quick bite, husband brings this home! I’m truly disappointed. This is truly saddening and disturbing and not funny at all! These aren’t funny jokes and shouldn’t be made period and on company time?!”

Misty and Jason spoke to CBS Cleveland affiliate WOIO–TV. Misty said, “The point is, there should not be this kind of hate happening today. With the climate we’re in right now, why make a joke like that?”

Jason added, “We’re trying to solve hate, and even if this was just a joke internally for the employees, just stop. Stop with the symbolism, and let it go away.”

Little Caesar Enterprises said in a statement, “We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated. We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values.”

Despite this, Misty and Jason have been facing backlash from, those questioning if the couple had staged the act themselves. Misty responded to these comments by tweeting, “sn’t is hilarious all the folks calling my husband and I LIARS and accusing us of staging it YET, the employees ADMITTED IT and they were terminated!”

Misty also posted text messages from someone who seems to have a friend who was working at the Little Caesars when the incident occurred. Misty attached a screenshot of the message that explained what had happened and wrote, “But I’m a liar” with no further explanation.
