The Bachelor picked up again on Monday with 11 women remaining to fight for the heart of Juan Pablo Galavis.
Those who’ve yet to get a one-on-one with the Bachelor are becoming increasingly desperate to do so. Finally, single mom Renee gets her chance in Vietnam. Dressed casually in a tank top and shorts, Renee and Juan Pablo walk hand-in-hand through the town street before Juan Pablo gives her a lift in a pedicab. He then takes her off to get a custom dress made and buy gifts for their children.
Renee, wearing the dress Juan Pablo had made for her, shares a private dinner with him at an empty restaurant. Renee admits on camera that she’s eager for the Bachelor to finally kiss her, but Juan Pablo says in his diary session that since she has a kid, he doesn’t want to rush into the physical part of their relationship. Even when they set floating lights over the water, the most Renee gets is a warm hug – and a rose.
Nikki receives the second one-on-one date invitation, meaning Alli, Kelly, Cassandra, Clare, Andi, Sharleen, Chelsie and Kat are all on a group date this week. Once they meet up with the Bachelor, they’re told to pair up and hop into a paddleboat. Since Clare doesn’t have any friends among her competitors, she gets to share a boat with Juan Pablo. He “sneaks” a kiss on her when they near land, scandalizing the rest of his girlfriends.
Later on, as the entire group starts to get liquored up, Juan Pablo still seems to only have eyes for Clare, even taking her back to his suite for some late night swimming in the pool overlooking the ocean. Though he also locked lips with Andi, none of the other girls felt that they got a chance to win over their would-be husband – and of course Clare got the group date rose. Little do the other women know that at 4am Clare also snuck out of their digs for a secret rendezvous with Juan Pablo. Admittedly, the Bachelor looksed a little off guardm but took her up on her offer to go swimming in the ocean.
For Nikki’s one-on-one, Juan Pablo has some cave exploring planned. The nurse, who admits she’s never been one to even jump into a lake from any great heights, shakes as she contemplates backing out of the planned date. Following Juan Pablo’s lead, she rappels down the inside of the cave slowly but surely. Once they reach a break point, Juan Pablo swings close to Nikki for a quick make out session.
The cave theme carried over into their romantic dinner, where Juan Pablo wanted to hear more about Nikki’s work as a pediatric nurse and how she felt about him having a daughter. She candidly admitted that she’d never dated anyone with a child and that the prospect had initially worried her. After some thought, Nikki said, she realized that she had the love to give a father and to be a step mom to his daughter. Juan Pablo, who “likes the way she thinks”, gave her a rose and a kiss.
When Juan Pablo greets the girls for the pre- Rose Ceremony cocktails, he informs them that not two, but three of them would be going home that night. Right off the bat, the mood is soured and the girls who are smiling are obviously faking it. The group gets even more incensed when Juan Pablo chooses to spend a chunk of the precious time with Clare and Renee – who already have roses. With Renee, Juan Pablo finally feels it’s the right time to kiss her. As for Clare, he wasn’t looking for more private time, but rather just the opposite.
After some reflection, Juan Pablo regretted heading to the ocean with her because it wasn’t fair to the other girls – and it’s not something he’d like his daughter to see. An embarrassed Clare says she didn’t mean to disrespect his daughter and that she thinks it’s about feelings in the house and not about what’s fair. The other girls see her crying and assume it has to do with a private matter. She already has a rose, what could she be crying about?
At the tense rose ceremony, Juan Pablo offers Sharleen, Cassandra, Chelsea, Kat and Andi, the chance to stick around, which means it’s all over for Alli, Kelly and Danielle.
The Bachelor airs Mondays on ABC at 8/7c.
