Valeria Lukyanova, a Ukrainian model whose ambition is to resemble the Barbie doll, now has a new goal – living off only air and light.
Lukyanova, 28, wants to keep her slim figure, which amplifies her resemblance to the popular Mattel doll. One way she thinks she can do that is by adopting a Breatharian lifestyle, which she believes she’s close to being able to do.
"In recent weeks I have not been hungry at all; I'm hoping it's the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone," Lukyanova told the International Business Times.
Breatharians believe that people have the potential to live off prana – the Sanskrit word for the concept of “life air.” Some people who practice it arrive at prana by first becoming a vegetarian, transitioning to a raw food diet and eventually acclimating to breatharianism. While fasting plays a part in many world religions, Breatharians’ fasting doesn’t have an end point.
Lukyanova’s adoption of a Breatharian diet is just the latest in a string of surprising proclamations made by the Barbie-lookalike model. She’s previously intimated that she believes she hails from Venus and can speak with aliens through light. Lukyanova also claims she can travel through time.
