Kendall Schmidt, singer, songwriter and Big Time Rush member, is gearing up to go on tour this fall with Heffron Drive, the band he started with Dustin Belt, also a Big Time Rush-mate. Fans can expect a more intimate concert-going experience. "I'm going to do my best to make the music that I'm playing understandable to everybody," Schmidt told Uinterview exclusively, answering fan questions. "It's been a different learning experience for me. It might be difficult for a fan to understand, but I think it's cool for them to be part of the experience."

Heffron Drive, which is named after the Wichita, Kan., street Schmidt and Belt grew up on, writes and performs songs inspired by his day-to-day experiences. "My songs are stories about life, about love, about happiness," Schmidt says. "I'm never going to be singing about 'poppin' bottles' anytime soon, or about going to the club."

Heffron Drive's national tour starts Nov. 23 in Houston. Opening acts: Eric Dash (@ericfdash) along with Ariana and the Rose (@arianatherose).

Q: What can fans expect from your Heffron Drive tour? - JadoreKendallx

They're not really used to seeing Big Time Rush in an intimate setting. In the last three years, we've been playing these massive venues. It can be hard to connect with some people and reach all the way in the back. I'm going to do my best to make the music that I'm playing understandable to everybody and not blow people's faces off, even though I do do some of that stuff. So it's been a different learning experience for me. It might be difficult for a fan to understand, but I think it's cool for them to be part of the experience.

Q: What are you most excited about for the tour? - ILoveKendall430

To be on the rode performing. I'm looking forward to seeing the fans. I'm sure there will be a lot of people there because of Big Time Rush. I'm excited to play the music, play a couple songs from Big Time Rush. Playing the new music, figuring out how to play it, deciding what the structure and how the show's going to be put together. I'm excited to have this next step in my future.

Q: How did you choose the name Heffron Drive for the band? - EmmsDilemma

That's the street I grew up on, spent most of my time in California on. Not only was it the street I grew up on but that's where I first had my music years, where I started to make music. And when Dustin and I met, he lived four houses down from me. So problem solved. There's something about the name, that it doesn't sound like a weird street. It kinda sounds like a cool band. Maybe it's just because it's my band name. It looked cool on the street sign.

Q: How are you going to manage the fact that you are an integral "Rusher" but also have this big project with Heffron Drive? What's going to happen with Big Time Rush? - VishalBalani

It's absolutely not something I'm worried about. Big Time Rush is not breaking up. We really love each other. We've managed to stay really close friends while everyone is out exploring their own creative avenues. We're young and there's still time.

Q: Were you ever shy or scared to sing in front of people when you first began to sing? - HendersonWife1

Absolutely. First of all, it's all about the people in each crowd. As Big Time Rush went from performing for a whole bunch of suits, to Times Square, to 50 people in the audience filming shows – we've gone from extremely intimate, to extremely drawn out. We had the TV show experience. We had the ability to really practice in front of different crowds.

Q: Who's the person who supported you most in your career? - VideoCoverGirl

My parents, obviously, for sure. I think it speaks volumes that I was like, 'Okay, I'll head up to California.' [Our parents] supported us, put a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. My brothers - whenever I get tired or run down or depressed, I call my brothers. They pick me up again. I feel like you can really, really rely in life on your family. I know not everyone has that ability with their family, but I'm really lucky to.

Q: Who or what inspires your music? - KarlaManciniGarrido

Experiences, feeling stressed about something, just life. I think the thing that I want to convey most in my music is that I'm never going to be singing about 'poppin' bottles' anytime soon, or about going to the club anytime soon so most of my songs are stories about life, about love, about happiness. Some time I'm happy, sometimes not. I just did a song the other day called "One Track Mind" that is about being stubborn, a quality that all of us can have. I don't know, everything's inspiring. But like I said, I try to stay positive, and put a positive aspect in every song. Like "One Track Mind," I had to keep in mind that I'm positive person. The song is about me and not worrying about what somebody else is saying about you.

Q: If you could be anyone dead or alive, who would you be and what would you do? - krtnapriyanti

Wow. I think it would be really interesting to be someone who had a lot of money and the kind of life where you can actually do a lot of stuff with it. Someone who had $10 billion — think of all you could do with $9 billion of that $10 billion. That money could do a lot for a lot of people. You could change a lot of lives, you could establish a lot of cool things. A billion dollars can change so many people's lives. I would love to be someone like that one day, who has a certain amount of money that they could do lots of things with. I feel like there's not that many people like that. I would want to do something to make a positive change.
