Foreigner, the British-American rock band formed in New York City, is set to kick off its 40th anniversary summer tour this July. The band will play in Syracuse, New York, at the Lakeview Amphitheater. The band’s former drummer, Jason Bonham, will also be performing at the Syracuse concert. The band explained this inclusion, saying they wanted to make this tour a “family affair.”
The band will be making 37 stops from July to September, with the tour ending in Auburn, Washington. Tickets for their tour will be on sale starting January 13th. Tickets will start at $29.95 for the lawn seats. The band will also begin a European tour in May 20th, in Switzerland.
Mick Jones, who formed the band in 1976, gushed, “I could never have dreamed this would happen or that we would still have some kind of relevance 40 years later. It’s unbelievable, really.”
Jones, who recently overcame some health issues, stated that looking forward to Foreigner’s 50th anniversary to be “a bit of a stretch.” But he still has hope and motivation; he proclaimed: “There’s a real desire to continue as long as I can — safely.”
He went on to explain, “It’s had a marvelous run and at some point it will be time to hang it up. But it’s not what I’m thinking of right now. I’m just very excited for what’s ahead this year.”
