Actor Matt Damon has revealed that his oldest daughter, Alexia Barroso, has recovered from the coronavirus.

Damon is currently practicing social distancing in Ireland with wife, Luciana Barroso, and their three daughters, Stella Damon, Gia Damon and Isabella Damon. The oldest, Barroso, is Lucian’s daughter from a previous relationship and is currently residing in New York City where she attends college.

Damon was filming a movie in Dalkey, Ireland when the coronavirus outbreak began and remained there when the stay at home order was put in place.

Damon appeared on Dublin’s Fully Charged with Graham & Nathan and discussed how he has been social distancing in Ireland. He explained that Barroso, along with her roommates, had contracted the virus, but Barroso has recovered. “She got through it fine,” Damon said. “We’re going to go back to Los Angeles and [Alexia’s] going to come out, so we’ll all be together and figure out what the heck we’re going to do. It’s such an odd limbo that we’re all in.”

Damon also spoke about his 2011 movie, Contagion, and how it predicted an outbreak like COVID-19. “Anybody who says you couldn’t have [predicted] this, just look at Contagion,” he said. “Ten years ago we made a movie just by talking to experts and asking them, ‘Well how would this look and how kind of would it go down?’ The whole things is—it’s tragic and sad. I hope some good can come out of it.”

At the end of the interview, Damon surprised a frontline worker, nurse, and fan on video call. Damon thanked the nurse for all that she has done and showed appreciation for all the other frontline workers during this time. “I can’t even tell you,” he said. “This has been so horrible for everybody, but if there’s any silver lining, it’s that hopefully, people are finally understanding how awesome you frontline workers are.”
