Don Lemon Blasts Megyn Kelly For ‘Racist’ Comments About Joy Reid, Calls Her ‘The Worst Person On TV’
Don Lemon, former anchor for CNN, slammed Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly for celebrating the cancelation of longtime MSNBC host Joy Reid‘s show.
Reid’s show, The ReidOut, aired its final show on Monday. Many people and public figures have expressed their upset over the cancelation, including MSNBC’s own Rachel Maddow, who slammed the network for making a “bad decision.”
President Donald Trump even weighed in, celebrating Reid’s firing.
Reid was the first African American woman to ever host her own night show. Several other news shows hosted by people of color have been canceled under the new leadershio of MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler.
At the news of the cancelation of The ReidOut over the weekend, Kelly posted to X calling Reid “the absolutely worst person on television” and asserting, “Joy Reid has viciously mocked the tears of every white person she’s helped cancel over the years for some imaginary racial slight. She’s had zero empathy for anyone. Now she wants us to feel sorry for her. WE DON’T.”
On her Monday episode, Kelly continued her rant, spewing, “[Reid] was officially fired over the weekend because she’s a racist, horrible news anchor with no ratings.”
Lemon fired back at Kelly in his YouTube show on Monday, declaring her to be a racist and the absolute worst person on television.
“Let me just say to Megan Kelly, on my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f‑‑‑ yourself.”
He went on, “The worst person on television was fired from NBC and the Today show a few years ago, and that’s Megyn Kelly. That’s the worst person who’s not on television anymore. It’s you. So hoorah for that. NBC did something good with that.” Lemon reminded his viewers of the 2018 scandal when Megyn Kelly Today was canceled following her racist comments defending blackface Halloween costumes.
Lemon admitted, “I was actually friendly with Megyn Kelly…when people show you who they are, you better f‑‑‑ing believe it because we should’ve known.”
