Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones Says He Wants To Be White House Press Secretary After It Opens Press Room To New Media Outlets

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones announced on social media that he wants to be President Donald Trump‘s White House press secretary. It was unclear whether Jones was joking – Trump recently named Karoline Leavitt, 27, as the youngest press secretary in history.

During the first press briefing of Trump’s second administration, Leavitt announced that Trump would speak to a wide range media outlets with special chairs in the press room designated for “new media.”

“In keeping with this revolutionary media approach that President Trump deployed during the campaign, the Trump White House will speak to all media outlets and personalities, not just the legacy media who are seated in this room,” Leavitt stated.

She also mentioned that “millions of Americans, especially young people, have turned from traditional television outlets and newspapers to consume their news from podcasts, blogs, social media and other independent outlets.”

“It’s essential to our team that we share President Trump’s message everywhere and adapt this White House to the new media landscape in 2025,” she added.

“To do this, I am excited to announce the following changes will be made to the historic James S. Brady briefing where Mr. Brady’s legacy will endure,” the White House press secretary said. “This White House believes strongly in the First Amendment, so it’s why our team will work diligently to restore the press passes of the 440 journalists whose passes were wrongly revoked by the previous administration.”

“We’re also opening up this briefing room to new media voices who produce news-related content and whose outlet is not already represented by one of the seats in this room,” Leavitt declared. “We welcome independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators to apply for credentials to cover this White House.”

“Imagine if Alex Jones gets a White House Press Pass,” one X wrote on the platform in response to Leavitt’s announcement.

Jones then replied to this post on the same day, stating in the caption that he has “been invited to come [to Washington D.C.] next week.”

“Should I go to D.C.?” he asked.

Most users who replied to this post insisted that Jones should go to D.C.

“H– yeah, you should, brother,” one user stated. “You are a major voice of reason and should amplify your words in any way possible.”

Jones is in the midst of multiple legal battles over his promotion of conspiracy theories.

During a court hearing on September 24, 2024, bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez ordered Jones to sell his Infowars media platform and its assets to pay the $1 billion he owes to relatives of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Jones falsely claimed for years that the victims of Sandy Hook were “crisis actors.” He later admitted in court that he was lying.
