In the latest episode of her misSpelling podcast, Beverly Hills 90210 alum Tori Spelling admitted she was a “hoarder” and declared she is ready to make some changes in her life.

Spelling shared that she had started to sift through her four storage units with the intention of “simplifying her life,” telling her listeners, “I’m a hoarder, you guys! Hi, my name’s Tori and I’m a hoarder. There I said it.” She admitted, “I always tell people, ‘I’m not a hoarder. I’m a collector.’”

Spelling shared what prompted her lifestyle change: when she and her children had moved into an Airbnb due to a mold infestation in their house, she noticed she could “breathe” again, and concluded, “I can breathe because I don’t have all my s— falling on top of me. I would like to clean up my life for my kids because they deserve better.”

Spelling and her ex-husband Dean McDermott share five children – Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.

Spelling has continually commented that her children deserve a better mother than she has been and promised that she intends to change her ways for their sake. However, over the years, her parenting style has not presented as fulfilling such guarantees, and many have questioned why she has not yet “pulled herself together.”

Spelling has a long history of financial problems, and in August 2023 she and her kids appeared to be living out of an RV. Despite confirmation of her money struggles from close sources at the time, Spelling has since contended that she and her children were on vacation.

Spelling remembered McDermott’s reaction to her hoarding tendencies: “For a long time Dean wanted to clear out [the storage units] and he was right. He said, ‘We’ve gotta pare down and we don’t need this stuff, and sometimes stuff is just stuff.’ But for me, it wasn’t just stuff, even small things. It was my story. It was my journey.”

She further explained that throwing out her belongings made her feel as though she was abandoning a part of herself; “Like I didn’t exist, like I was just erasing something – and so I couldn’t let go.”

However, the actress shared that she now doesn’t have much of a choice in the decision to limit her belongings, as she will lose the storage units on May 1. “I’m ready to let go of a lot of stuff. Well, because I have to, because I can’t pay for it.”

In a previous episode of MisSpelling, Spelling revealed, “My mom had storage units, so I grew up knowing that world. You know, everything gets put into a storage unit.”
