‘Gossip Girl’ Star Chanel Banks Found After Mysterious 2-Week Disappearance, Says She ‘Does Not Want To Be Found’

Chanel Banks, an actress best known for her role as Sawyer Bennett on the hit series Gossip Girl, has been confirmed safe after being missing for two weeks since Oct. 30.

Banks’ family reported that She had been missing from her Los Angeles residence in the Playa Vista area for two weeks. Law enforcement conducted welfare checks on Nov. 7 and 8, but they were unable to locate Banks.

She was found on Nov. 11, in Texas, and is “fine” with no foul play suspected. It was not specified what Banks’ intentions in Texas were.

Spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department Charles Miller stated of Banks’ condition, “No danger. She is OK. She has been taken out of the missing person system for us and we have closed our investigation.”

Prior to Banks’ being located, her cousin Danielle-Tori Singh set up a GoFundMe page to support the family in traveling to find her, stating the family needed money for a rental car and gas, hotels and food while they searched.

Singh told ABC 7 Eyewitness News, “Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells…She doesn’t go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom. That girl is more like a big sister to me…[I knew] something was up.”

Singh also previously shared on the GoFundMe page,  “On November 10 my aunt and I were able to get into the apartment and all of her belongings are still there. The only items we did not locate are her phone and laptop. She also does not go anywhere without her little dog, which also has been left behind. She also does not have her vehicle because it’s parked in her garage. She would NEVER go anywhere without telling her mom or myself.”

However, Singh reported that Banks’ husband of one year has relayed a message from Banks to the family that she “will reach out when she’s ready” and “does not want to be found.”
