Richard Gere Sells $11 Million Connecticut Home To Move To Spain With His Wife’s Family
Actor Richard Gere has sold his New Canaan, Connecticut, home for $10.75 million in preparation for a move to Spain.
Gere, 75, bought the house in 2022 for $10.8 million. It was formerly owned by couple Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, who purchased the home for $16.5 million 17 years earlier.
The Pretty Woman star resided in New Canaan with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, for two years. The 1938 house sits on 32 acres of land and features six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a pool, multiple gardens and a three-bedroom guest cottage.
Gere and Silva were married in 2018 and have lived in the U.S. since. In April, however, Gere opened up about the couple’s desire to move abroad to be closer to his wife’s family in Madrid.
“For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture,” he told Vanity Fair Spain. “She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.”
The actor said living in Madrid will be a “great adventure” for himself, his wife and their two children.
Gere and Silva attended the Zurich Film Festival in October, where they were photographed embracing each other on the green carpet.
