Jelly Roll Quits ‘Insane’ X Due To Elon Musk’s Changes: ‘Most Toxic Negative App To Ever Exist’

On Saturday, country singer Jelly Roll announced his exit from X, formerly Twitter, deeming it the “most toxic negative app to exist ever.”

Jelly Roll attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, and posted a group photo including musicians Jack Black, Chad Smith and Wolfgang Van Halen. Minutes after, he declared that image would be his last on the platform.

“This place is different man, I always heard it was the Wild West on her but man it’s insane,” he said of X, which is owned by Elon Musk. “It’s a safe place for everyone to say mean s– to each other with no consequences. I’m out lol.”

Jelly Roll is not the first to acknowledge the concerning atmosphere of X since Musk took over. Studies have shown that the hate speech on the app has significantly increased since 2022. Musk has allowed many previously banned users back onto the platform. Investors in the company have even tried reducing their stake as a result of its decline.

Jelly Roll is currently wrapping up his Beautifully Broken Tour, which began on Aug. 27 and will end on Oct. 27.
