Halle Bailey and rapper DDG have split just 11 months after welcoming their son, Halo

The actress, 24, began her relationship with DDG, 26, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, in early 2022.

“After much reflection and heartfelt support conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” DDG posted on his Instagram Story. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us.”

Reflecting, the singer added that his time spent with Bailey and their love for one another have been “cherished.”

Concluding his post, DDG asked fans for their “understanding and support” as the two navigate their new reality.

Bailey often remains silent on matters related to her private life and has yet to comment on the split between her and DDG.

Bailey and DDG first stirred relationship rumors in January 2022. Still, as March rolled around, the two finally went public, with DDG posting a since-deleted birthday tribute for the actress.

In June 2022, the pair debuted on the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards.

While Bailey previously revealed that she was a fan of DDG’s music before they got together, it was he who initiated the connection.

“I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them. I completely forgot about him,” Bailey said in a November 2022 interview. “But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally, he messaged me — and the rest is history.”

In a later interview, DDG shared why he and Bailey didn’t split their finances, noting that because they are well-off, he doesn’t think “50/50 is a thing.”

However, when it comes to their son, Halo, DDG said that they make sure to split things evenly.

“For the most part, as a man, you know she will never pay for dinner, she will never pay for an Uber or trips and flights and stuff. I feel like that’s definitely my job,” the rapper said. “When it comes to our child, it’s a little different. We might split a night nurse here and there. Do you know what I mean? It ain’t even about the money; it’s just the principle, you know? The baby [is] 50/50.”

Last year, Bailey made waves as the star of The Little Mermaid, even as some fans questioned her casting.
