Richard Simmons’ brother, Lenny Simmons, revealed that the fitness star went out in style as he was buried in his fitness clothes underneath his regular attire.

During his brother’s celebration of life ceremony at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans on October 5, Lenny revealed, “Just like Clark Kent underneath his beautiful things that he was wearing, his clothing, [Richard] is wearing a tank top and shorts.”

Lenny said that he and his family believe that God has another plan for Richard, noting that they wanted to make sure “that he was going to be in his normal costume that we all know and love to help the saints and the angels get into shape.”

“So I’m here to say to you that even though he’s not here — and I know he’s in spirit here tonight – Richard Simmons will forever be sweating with the Holies,” the grieving brother said.

Simmons died on July 13 at the age of 76 after suffering a fall. Reportedly, the fitness icon refused help and his housekeeper, Teresa Reveles Muro, found him dead the morning after his birthday.

Over a month after his passing, it was confirmed that his cause of death was a result of complications from heart disease and recent falls.

Following his brother’s death, Lenny released a statement: “I don’t want people to be sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. He truly cared about people.”

“He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help,” Lenny continued. “So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life. He was very excited about all of the upcoming ventures he was working on.”

Lenny and Muro have been at war over Richard’s estate after Lennysince Lenny had the housekeeper removed as a trustee. Now, she’s fighting in court to be reinstated.
