Sabrina Carpenter joked about her apparent ties to the corruption charges Mayor Eric Adams is facing at her Madison Square Garden Concert on Sunday.

Brooklyn priest Jamie Gigantiello was reportedly demoted after allowing the  25-year-old pop star to film a music video for her song “Feather” at his church in November 2023. In several clips, Carpenter is shown in a tiny black dress on the altar of the 160-year-old Catholic church next to a coffin inscribed with “RIP Bitch.”

Carpenter’s use of the church led the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn to issue a statement, claiming they were “appalled” by the video.

Gigantiello’s alleged ties with one of Adams’ closest associates have sparked speculation in the media.

At her NYC concert on September 29, Carpenter decided to weigh in on the matter.

“What should we talk about… how I got the mayor indicted?” she jested from the stage.

The musician spoke about the controversy several days after Adams pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery charges in a Manhattan federal court.

Recently, federal investigators issued a subpoena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Williamsburg to investigate details about financial or business dealings between Gigantiello and Frank Carone, Adams’ former chief of staff.

A Brooklyn Diocese spokesperson told media outlets, “The Diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including conduct at individual parishes or involving any priests.”

Defense attorney Arthur Aidala claims that Gigantiello “is not the target of any federal, state or city investigation.”
