Dolphins’ Star Tyreek Hill’s Arrest Video Reveals How Confrontation Rapidly Escalated With Police

A newly released bodycam video has shared the details surrounding the detainment of Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. 

Miami police released over 105 minutes of footage showing how the heated scene between Hill and officers unfolded outside the Hard Rock Stadium. 

The video shows Miami-Dade police stopping Hill for speeding. The situation quickly escalated. 

As police approached Hill’s vehicle, the football player could be heard saying, “Hey, don’t knock on my window like that,” to the officer, who then questioned why he was not wearing a seatbelt. 

After Hill had appeared to have already given the cop his license, the first officer tried to explain why he initially tried to get Hill’s attention with the knock. In response, the Dolphins star asked the cop for a ticket so that he could leave and then proceeded to roll his window back up. 

The officer disapproved of Hill’s action, and when the player slightly rolled down his window, the cops told him to step out of the vehicle. 

From the footage, Hill can be heard saying that he was going to comply with the officer’s request when a separate cop then pulled the player out of the car, dragging him to the ground with the help of a third officer. 

“When we tell you to do something, you do it, you understand?” an officer said in the video. “Not when you want, but when we tell you. You’re a little f––ing confused.”

Moments later, Hill was brought to his feet, but when he wasn’t quick enough to sit on the curb after being asked, a cop came and shoved him down. 

After Hill stated to the officer that he had just had knee surgery, the cop toughly replied, “Did you have surgery on your ears when we told you to put your window down?”

Upon his release, the football player was interviewed by NBC News. “If I wasn’t Tyreek Hill, Lord knows, I probably would have been, like, worst-case scenario, I would have been shot or would have been locked up,” he said. 

Following the release of the video, the Dolphins expressed support for Hill in a written statement, condemning the behavior of the cops involved.  

“We are saddened by the overly aggressive and violent conduct directed toward Tyreek Hill, Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith by police officers before yesterday’s game,” the statement read. “It is both maddening and heartbreaking to watch the very people we trust to protect our community use such unnecessary force and hostility toward these players, yet it is also a reminder that not every situation like this ends in peace, as we are grateful this one did. ‘What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?’ is a question that will carry with resounding impact.”
