Catfish star Nev Schulman has finally opened up about a near-fatal accident he suffered earlier last month.

Schulman, 39, was riding his bike to pick his son up from school on Aug. 5 when he was hit by a truck. The accident left him with several injuries, including a broken neck.

A few days after the incident, the reality star shared a post on Instagram about the trauma and its aftermath.

“I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS,” he wrote. “It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from the doctors about how many people with similar injuries never walk again.”

“I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery,” Schulman continued. “And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward.”

He also noted that he believed the accident may have been avoided with the addition of a bike lane in the area where he was hit.

In May 2018, production of MTV’s Catfish was halted due to sexual harassment allegations against Schulman. He has since denied all accusations.
