Donald Trump‘s daughter, Ivanka, the former White House advisor, publicly addressed her father’s legal battles for the first time on Thursday afternoon.

The move comes after Trump was convicted on all 34 charges in his criminal hush money trial in New York on Thursday.

Ivanka, who has largely maintained a low profile and avoided commenting on her father’s legal woes, took to her Instagram stories to post a childhood photograph of herself and Trump, accompanied by the caption, “I love you, Dad” and a heart emoji.

This public display of support contrasts with the actions of her brothers, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, who have been more vocal in their defense of their father. The two sons have appeared alongside Trump in court and echoed his claims of a “rigged” prosecution in right-wing media. Ivanka reportedly felt “embarrassed” by the trial and the revelations about her father.

Ivanka’s decision to break her silence on this matter is particularly noteworthy, as she has largely steered clear of the political limelight in recent years. Her social media presence has primarily focused on family vacations, personal selfies and holiday messages, as she has avoided public discourse about her father’s legal battles.

In 2022, Ivanka stated that she had no plans to return to the campaign trail or enter the political arena. Still, recent reports indicate that she may be considering returning to the White House if he is reelected. Her recent support for her father may suggest a potential shift in her position.

The conviction of Donald Trump in the hush money trial has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, and Ivanka’s decision to publicly acknowledge this development represents a significant departure from her previous stance of relative silence. Political pundits and the public will undoubtedly scrutinize this move as they seek to understand the dynamics within the Trump family and the implications for the former president’s future.
