First Lady Jill Biden Says Trump Is ‘A Bully’ &’Dangerous To The LGBTQ Community’
On Friday, First Lady Jill Biden spoke to voters at the Human Rights Campaign’s “Equality in Action” event in Virginia. At the gathering, Jill claimed former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was a “bully.” The event highlighted advancements for the LGBTQ community during the Biden administration.
“Donald Trump is a bully. He is dangerous to the LGBTQ community, to our families, to our country, and we cannot let him win. We have to fight like hell. Today, tomorrow and all the days after. Until the polls close on November 5. Until Joe and Kamala have won another term. Until all the people in all the places can live freely surrounded by love.”
Jill also said outside forces were undoing “hard-fought gains” in the LGBTQ community, with states passing laws and bills that are “targeting this community” by limiting their rights.
“Yet there are forces outside these walls that are trying to erase these hard-fought gains, trying to unwind all the progress that we’ve made.”
Jill continued to say her husband, President Joe Biden, has been an advocate for the community and strives to protect their rights. This includes the implementation of the Respect for Marriage Act, ending the ban on blood donations from gay and bisexual men and permitting transgender military members to serve.
During the 2020 election, Biden saw overwhelming support from the LGBTQ community for his progressive policies. In 2024, Biden may need to gain their support again for the upcoming election as public approval ratings for the current President have been seeing a decline.
“They want to take our victories away but we won’t let them,” Jill said at the Virginia gathering. “Your president will not let them. I will not let them.”
Days before the event, the Biden campaign announced Out for Biden-Harris which aims to encourage LGBTQ voters.
Recently, Trump’s endorsed candidate for North Carolina governor, Mark Robinson, who called gay people “filth,” won the GOP nomination.
