Melania Trump has not returned to the campaign trail despite promises from her husband, former President Donald Trump, that she will be back soon.

Trump recently won the primary in New Hampshire, defeating his rival Nikki Haley. The former president is leading in the polls and his position as the Republican nominee is nearly certain. The ballot for 2024 is likely to be the same as the 2020 election, with Joe Biden and Trump as the Democratic and Republican nominees.

If Trump were to win in the upcoming election, this would mean his wife, Melania, would be the First Lady yet again.

A source told CNN, “Being the first lady again is not what she wants. For her, it was a chapter and it’s over.”

Since the announcement of his campaign, Melania has not been present at any campaign events and after her mother’s funeral on January 9, the couple was seen leaving in separate cars.

Trump’s campaign team has attempted to nip rumors surrounding Melania in the bud by releasing a statement on his behalf claiming that the former First Lady “wants to make America great again” and “will play a big role” in the future of his campaign and potential presidency.

The daughter-in-law of former president, Lara Trump, spoke on the issue saying that Trump is “protective” and this is the reason behind keeping his family slightly less visible.

“I think he’s a protective dad and I think he wants his family to stay safe,” she stated. “And unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who are targeting him and as a result of that, he feels like, I think, target his family.”

After the death of her mother, Melania is supposed to increase her public appearances in the coming months of 2024.
