Prince Harry Mocked After Being Named A ‘Living Legend’ Of Aviation At Hollywood Reception

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is set to receive the esteemed title of a “living legend” of aviation and join the ranks of notable figures such as astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong.

Prince Harry will be inducted into the prestigious group on January 19 at a ceremony in Beverly Hills hosted by John Travolta. The Living Legends of Aviation was established in 2003 to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the aviation and aerospace industries. Other aviation and aerospace icons include Jeff Bezos, Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Elon Musk and Saudi Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud.

Prince Harry’s recognition stems from his career as an Apache helicopter pilot in the British military. He served in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2013, where he undertook combat missions. Over his ten-year tenure in the military, Prince Harry also flew training missions in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia.

Prince Harry earned his Flying Wings in 2010 and an intensive eight-month Army Pilot Course at the Army Aviation Centre. Through the course, he gained proficiency in flying the Firefly fixed-wing aircraft and the Squirrel helicopter, which accumulated to approximately 220 flying hours.

This announcement has sparked mixed reactions across social media, as many users mocking his inclusion in the group. However, many have celebrated the award with praise for Prince Harry’s military service and his ongoing commitment to various charitable causes.

The annual report of Archewell, the charitable organization established by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, has revealed that the donations they made to various charities this year amounted to $1.2 million. With the motto “Show up, do good,” the foundation supports a diverse array of initiatives, such as assisting Afghan women who reside in the United States and combating the spread of misinformation. In addition to his aviation achievements, Prince Harry will also be honored for his role as the founder of the Invictus Games, a sporting event for wounded, injured and sick service personnel.

The event will also pay tribute to other notable figures in the aviation industry, such as U.S. Navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Hinton.
