A flight that was traveling from Toronto to Calgary on Wednesday was forced to land after a 16-year-old male teenager assaulted a family member.

The teenager was later arrested after being restrained by airline employees and passengers. He was then transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The teenager’s actions fall into the long line of recent unruly passenger cases. These are “incidents that involve violence against crew and other passengers, harassment, and failure to comply with safety and public health instructions,” according to the International Air Transport Association.

The most common examples of unruly passenger cases include intoxication, verbal abuse and non-compliance with crew members.

The incident also does not help Air Canada’s reputation for lateness, as a recent report labeled it as having the worst on-time performance among major North American airlines.
