Russell Brand Postpones Live Tour During Investigation Into Sexual Assault Allegations
Russell Brand has postponed his remaining live performances on his Bipolarisation tour following sexual assault allegations.
A joint investigation between the UK’s Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times revealed accusations from four women alleging that the comedian sexually and emotionally abused and raped them between 2006 and 2013.
Brand has denied these “very serious allegations,” though various news outlets have since reported more women coming forward with similar claims.
In light of the weekend’s investigation, Brand has halted his live tour.
“We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don’t like doing it — but we know you’ll understand,” the tour’s promoter announced in a statement.
Channel 4 has since removed a number of television episodes that featured Brand, and has announced an internal inquiry into Brand’s alleged behavior. The network is encouraging “anyone who is aware of such behavior to contact us directly.”
