Bodybuilder and fitness influencer Jo Lindner, known online as Joesthetics, died from an aneurysm in Thailand. He was 30 years old.

Lindner’s girlfriend Nicha confirmed the news on Saturday, July 1, posting photos of herself with Lindner on her Instagram and describing him as sweet, kind, strong and loyal. She wrote, “He was in my arms… than this is just happening too fast… 3 days ago he kept saying that he had pain in his neck… we didn’t really realize it… until it [was] too late.”

Nicha commented on rumors about her partner’s death, saying it was wrong for people online to “guess how he die [sic] or say he overdose.” This speculation came from Lindner’s earlier admission to using steroids after several fitness trainers accused him of dishonesty.

In an interview on bodybuilder Bradley Martyn‘s Raw Talk show last month, Lindner talked about his diagnosis of rippling muscle disease, a genetic condition that causes one’s muscles to become sensitive to pressure and movement.

“Technically, it’s a cramp,” Lindner said to Martyn.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the condition is characterized by increased muscle irritability, repetitive tensing of the muscle, “bunching up” of the muscle and visible rippling of the muscles. Its symptoms also include fatigue, cramps and muscle stiffness.
