Sam Taylor-Johnson Celebrates Husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s 33rd Birthday

Sam Taylor-Johnson celebrated her husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s birthday on Tuesday.

Sam posted on Instagram a photo of Aaron shirtless. She captioned the photo, “Happy Birthday dear heart ❤️ You’re the sweetest husband and incredible Father to all our girls. We love you ❤️” 

It was the actor’s 33rd birthday. 

The two met in 2008 when Aaron auditioned to act in the first movie Sam directed, Nowhere Boy. The two did not officially start their relationship until after the movie. Sam told uInterview, “I don’t know that it evolved during the filming because, you know, I was at work, he was at work, it was a work environment and we didn’t really mix the two, so that happened when we finished filming.”

Aaron proposed to Sam in 2009 after they finished filming the movie. 

In 2010, they announced that they were expecting their first child together. Sam already had two children, Angelica and Jessie, from her previous marriage to Jay Jopling. Their first child, Wylda Rae, was born in July 2010. 

They had their second child, Romy Hero, in January 2012. 

The two tied the knot shortly after on June 21, 2012. They decided to combine their last names as Aaron explained, “I just don’t see why women need to take the man’s name. I wanted to be a part of her just as much as she wanted to be part of me.”

Aaron decided to become a stay-at-home father to his daughters for a while and Sam continued to work on films. But he has continued to act in different films gaining rapidly in fame. 

The two have received criticism for their relationship, as Sam is about 20 years older than Aaron. Aaron once called this attention “intrusive.” 

In June 2021, they got matching tattoos of each other’s names. Dr. Woo, who is a celebrity tattoo artist, designed the tattoos and posted a photo of the tattoos on Instagram.

They renewed their wedding vows last year in June in a private ceremony. Aaron announced the event to the public via Instagram. He posted a picture of them kissing and captioned the photo, “Yesterday was the most beautiful day, summer solstice, our 10th anniversary… we renewed our vows to one another and confessed our love in front of our nearest and dearest friends and family it was a celebration of love and joy! A decade of marriage. It was a magical unforgettable day and the sun did not stop shining on us both.. we are blessed beyond belief. ❤️ Sammy you are my love, my life, my soulmate, my wife, my world! ❤️”
