Donald Trump Jr. tweeted an AI-generated clip depicting Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis as Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, from the sitcom The Office. In the scene, Scott is teased for wearing a woman’s suit. Don Jr. posted the video from the user @C3PMeme, writing in the caption “DeSantis does seem to spend a lot of time in high heels.”

The video shows DeSantis’ face placed over Michael Scott’s and has his voice saying all of Carell’s lines.

At the end of the clip, a cartoon meatball is shown next to the words “Ron! 2024.” This likely refers to former president Donald Trump‘s name for DeSantis, “Meatball Ron.”

CNN anchor Jake Tapper also shared the video and wrote, “Imagine when next time it’s not an obvious spoof from The Office but an attempt to depict itself as legitimate and much more nefarious.”

DeSantis officially announced his bid for the White House last week in a disorganized event on Twitter Spaces with owner Elon Musk. The occasion garnered 150,000 live listeners, but the discussion was riddled with technical issues that resulted in a 25-minute delay. Conservative media outlets mocked DeSantis while the presidential candidate claimed the complications were due to the high attendance and labeled it “Internet-breaking excitement.”

DeSantis also took a jab at Trump, saying he is a “different guy” than the one running for president in 2016. He criticized the former president over his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, mentioning that he “turned the country over to Fauci” and “destroyed millions of people’s lives.”

According to FiveThirtyEight, Trump is leading all other candidates for the Republican nomination in the polls.
