‘Plus-Size Queen’ Jamie Lopez, Star Of ‘Super Sized Salon,’ Dies At 37
Jamie Lopez, star of WeTV’s Super Sized Salon and founder of Babydoll Beauty Couture, has died at 37.
Lopez died over the weekend due to heart complications after being hospitalized in Las Vegas. Her salon shared an Instagram post confirming the news on Monday.
“On behalf of the Babydoll Beauty Couture team, we regretfully announce, with great pain, the passing of The Founder & Owner of Babydoll Beauty Couture, The Legendary Jamie Lopez,” the company wrote. “We have suffered an extraordinary loss and appreciate the time and space to grieve. Please keep our Babydoll family & team lifted in your hearts and prayers.”

The star was preparing to film season two of the WeTV show, which documented her weight loss journey as she opened the Vegas salon. She lost 400 pounds over the course of the show and was able to walk into her salon after being confined to her bed due to her weight.
WeTV posted a statement following the news of her death.
“We are saddened to hear the news of the sudden passing of Jamie Lopez,” the statement said. “Jamie’s passion to create a safe and welcoming environment for all women at Babydoll Beauty Couture will never be forgotten.”
Earlier this year, Lopez posted a message to Instagram expressing her gratitude for the show.
“Extremely grateful from the bottom of my heart for this iconic moment,” she captioned a photo of the cast. “Started from a dream, a plan and vision…to being on your TV screen every Friday night. This dream was built for you Dolls, because you deserve the best of everything! Thank you for believing.”
