Drea de Matteo, who played Adriana La Cerva in The Sopranos, recently joined the uInterview Podcast, speaking with uInterview founder Erik Meers about her latest film Collide and working with Jim Gaffigan.

“I worked mostly with the guy I had an affair with, David Cade, and we had a blast. He’s one of the greatest guys I’ve ever met,” said Matteo, sitting comfortably in her warm and carefully decorated room. “Jim and I, even though it’s our story, he’s alone for the most of the movie. He’s working by himself. He and I have a few moments together, but not many. The few moments that we did have together – well, you don’t know with different actors on set, their ways of preparing, you don’t want to get in people’s way – I’m always super quiet, but I also don’t like being one of these actors who takes everything too seriously.”

She also shared how Gaffigan disarmed her by telling off-color jokes.

“Actors are a weird breed. I don’t love them in general. I like to be able to let go of all the insanity we’re holding onto in a box for a scene and to at least for the crew and everyone around you, to feel like you’re a human being, because sometimes they don’t,” she said. “He would rip some jokes after a take that were so inappropriate and so funny and so perfect and right up my alley. Immediately, I was disarmed by him and fell in love with him. That he could maintain this sad … it was so sad to watch, and then they cut and he makes this big, you know, his comedy routine comes out. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim.”
