The House Committee investigating the January 6 attacks on the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. has asked Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump who served as one of his senior advisers, to voluntarily submit to an interview with the committee.

The House Panel sent Trump an eight-page letter requesting her cooperation. In the letter, the committee showed particular interest in her knowledge of conversations between her father and Vice President Mike Pence. Ivanka’s actions during the January 6 attacks have been examined before, and she is the first Trump family member to be officially summoned by the committee.

“The Select Committee wishes to discuss the part of the conversation you observed between President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on the morning of January 6th. Similarly, the Select Committee would like to discuss any other conversations you may have witnessed or participated in regarding the president’s plan to obstruct or impede the counting of electoral votes,” said part of the letter read.

The Committee also mentioned a shocking new detail gleaned from interviews with other White House officials. They stated that senior White House staff “may have concluded that the actions President Trump directed Vice President Pence to take would violate the Constitution or would be otherwise illegal.”

This is a potentially damning detail, and the panel has requested whether Ivanka or others such as Pence and then Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, had knowledge that Trump’s directions were illegal. The panel also asked Ivanka if she remembered what discussions were like in the White House “before and after” Trump tweeted that Pence “didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution” at around 2:24 p.m. that day.

The letter also releases more communication made between the Trump White House and Fox News host Sean Hannity, who offered press strategy advice for them to follow in the wake of the riots. The House committee also hopes that Ivanka will help clear up Hannity’s involvement in the situation.

Along with Ivanka, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi), January 6 committee chairman, said that he hopes to speak with Pence this month.
