Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos To Produce Primetime Reboot Of ‘All My Children,’ ‘Pine Valley’
In an age of reboots, it was only a matter of time before soap operas joined in on the trend.
Kelly Ripa took to Instagram to announce that she and husband Mark Consuelos are set to produce the primetime reboot of the daytime soap opera, All My Children. The new project is currently in development at ABC with the title of Pine Valley.
Ripa starred on the show as Hayley Vaughan from 1990-2002 while Consuelos played Mateo Santos Sr. from 1995-2002. They played an onscreen couple that eventually led to them getting married in real life. They both returned to appear on the show for multiple episodes in 2010 for the 40th anniversary of the soap opera.
Ripa posted a series of throwback photos of the couple’s time on the show. “Hayley and Mateo,” she wrote. “Because what does ‘that’s a wrap’ even mean? #pinevalley #amc.”
Pine Valley will tell the story of a young journalist with a secret agenda moved to Pine Valley to expose the town’s dark and murderous history but becomes entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.
The original series aired for 41 years, 1970-2011.
Ripa and Consuelos will serve as executive producers of the series under Milojo Productions with Albert Bianchini. Andrew Stern of Andrew Stern Productions and Robert Nixon, son of the original series creator Agnes Nixon, will also executive produce along with the series writer Leo Richardson.
Ripa currently hosts Live With Kelly and Ryan with Ryan Seacrest and Consuelos stars as Hiram Lodge on Riverdale.
