Naya Rivera Called For Help In Her Last Words, Autopsy Report Reveals
On Sept.11, an autopsy report revealed that Glee actor Naya Rivera raised her arm while calling for help moments before drowning in Lake Piru in California. Rivera was unable to get back on the boat after helping her 4-year-old son get back on himself.
Rivera’s son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, “noticed the decedent put her arm up in the air and yelled ‘help,” according to the report from the Ventura County Medical Examiner.
Rivera’s cause of death was reported back on July 8 as accidental drowning according to authorities of Ventura Country. While the report said “Rivera knew how to swim well,” it also revealed Rivera had previous problems with vertigo, a sinus infection and had a small amount of prescribed amphetamines in her system.
Those physical conditions are not being considered as factors in her death.
Rivera had also refused to take a life jacket but the man who rented her the boat supplied her one anyway.
Five days later, Rivera’s body was found floating in the area of the lake where she had her last adventure with her son. Rivera’s son was immediately reunited with his father, actor Ryan Dorsey, after being found alone on the boat.
The actress played a gay cheerleader in the Fox TV musical comedy Glee and published her book Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams. Mistakes, and Growing Up in 2016.
Throughout Rivera’s time as a Glee star from 2009-2015, she gained a widespread fanbase who continue to express their love for the late actress via Twitter and other social media platforms.
On July 7, Rivera tweeted what would be the last picture taken with her son.
