MTV Fires Alex Kompothecras From ‘Siesta Key’ For Alleged Racist Social Media Posts
Alex Kompothecras has been fired from MTV’s reality show Siesta Key for allegedly making racist comments and sharing images representing white supremacy on social media. MTV fired Kompothecras on the night of the show’s season three premiere.
An MTV spokesperson said, “We’ve made the decision to cut ties with Alex and are editing the current season to minimize his presence. He will not be in future seasons of Siesta Key.”
Kompothecras was fired after his past racist comments and white supremacist posts resurfaced and circulated fan accounts online.
Kompothecras and his girlfriend, Alyssa Salerno, have been prominently featured in past seasons of the reality show. Salerno is still set to appear on the new season of Siesta Key, though most scenes of her boyfriend are being edited out.
“As of now, she is still a part of the show,” an MTV spokesperson said.
A week before Kompothecras was fired, MTV cut ties with Dee Nguyen who stars on The Challenge. The Australian reality star made controversial comments including those in a since-deleted tweet, relating to the Black Lives Matter movement.
