Republican Texas senator Ted Cruz took to Twitter and challenged actor Ron Perlman to a wrestling match in defense of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) when Perlman made fun of the Jordan in a tweet posted on June 14.

Perlman wrote, “You’re lucky for this guy Matt. If it weren’t for him you’d be the ugliest politician walking. @mattgaetz.”

Cruz referred to Perlman as his 2004 movie character and wrote, “Listen Hellboy. You talk good game when you’ve got Hollywood makeup & stuntmen. But I’ll bet $10k—to the nonpolitical charity of your choice—that you couldn’t last 5 min in the wrestling ring w/ @Jim_Jordan w/o getting pinned. You up for it?  Or does your publicist say too risky?”

Jordan was a wrestling coach at Ohio State University and had been accused of knowing about sexual misconduct complaints about the team’s doctor. Jordan had denied being aware of any allegations.

Perlman jumped on the opportunity of bringing Jordan’s background up and said, “I tell you what teddy boy, since mentioning jim jordan and wrestling is… problematic, why don’t we say f— him and just make it you & me. I’ll give 50k to Black Lives Matter and you can keep all the tax payer money you were thinking of spending.”

Cruz answered, “I get it, you’re rich. But, apparently, soft. You sure seem scared to wrestle Jordan (whom you keep insulting). Can’t take the heat?  Need to get a manicure?”

Perlman ended the Twitter war by saying, “Ya know ted, I’ve been giving this some thought- leave @Jim_Jordan home and give me 10 minutes with you and Mitch McConnell. Let’s see what else you muthaf—- can obstruct besides justice. All we need’s a time, place, and a few EMTs standing by. LMK. @tedcruz @senatemajldr.”
