Dwayne Johnson Says He’s ‘Proud’ Of Daughter Simone Johnson For Signing Deal With WWE
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said it “blows my mind” that his daughter signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.
“First of all, what an honor that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps,” Dwayne Johnson told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “But more importantly — follow in my footsteps sounds cliché — but she actually wants to create and blaze her own path, which is just so important.”

The 48-year-old actor got his start as a wrestler, gaining the moniker “The Rock,” before quitting to pursue acting in 2004. In 2011, he returned for a brief stint in the ring, until 2013 when he retired again. “The Rock” is one of the most famous stars to come out of the WWE, and was a 10-time WWE world champion.
His daughter Simone Alexandra Johnson signed her contract with WWE in February. Simone is the daughter of Johnson and his ex-wife Dany Garcia.
“And she wound up being the youngest signee in the history of the company,” Johnson said about his 18-year-old daughter.
“At 16 she was working her ass off, quietly under the radar, in the ring getting thrown around,” Johnson said. “You know all the bumps and the bruises that go with pro-wrestling, and she hung in there, and I’m very, very proud of her.”
The Johnsons have a family history of wrestling that goes far back, as Dwayne Johnson’s father, Rocky Johnson, was, along with his tag-team partner, one of the first black WWE champions. Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather, “High Chief” Peter Maivia, was a promoter for the National Wrestling Alliance in Hawaii. Both Dwayne Johnson’s father and grandfather are in the WWE Hall of Fame.
