Watch: Madonna Slammed For Video On Coronavirus Shot Naked In Her Bathtub
Madonna garned criticism by calling the coronavirus pandemic “the great equalizer” in a video where she appears in the bath posted on Sunday to Instagram and Twitter.
In the one-minute video, Madonna appears naked except for some necklaces, a bracelet, and a hair barrette. The tub is lined with votive candles, and it is filled with floating rose petals. She speaks as she sits, knees to her chest, grasping the bathtub’s faucets.
“That’s the thing about Covid-19,” she said in the video, “it doesn’t care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are, how smart you are, where you live, how old you are, what amazing stories you can tell.”
CORONAVIRUS FAQ: WIKI OF MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The video received more comments than likes on Twitter, with many of the more than 14,000 comments criticizing the singer’s take. Many pointed out that although the coronavirus can infect anyone in theory, those who are rich and famous are more likely to get tested and receive better care.
“What’s terrible about it is that it’s has made us all equal in many ways and what’s wonderful about it is that it’s made us all equal in many ways,” Madonna said. “Like I used to say at the end of ‘Human Nature’ every night, we are all in the same boat. And if the ship goes down, we’re all going down together.”
The coronavirus has infected more than 341,500 people worldwide, and has killed 15,187 people, as of Monday morning.
