Former First Lady Michelle Obama has celebrated her 56th birthday last weekend. The graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law school recently took to Instagram to share her thoughts about the occasion. She thanked her 36 million followers for sending her kind regards for her special day. Michelle also took the time to share some introspective thoughts about growing older. “With the girls off at college, this birthday brings with it a new perspective—a fresh breath—along my journey. I’m looking forward to devoting some quality time to my friends and to myself—and of course, to that husband of mine, too.” She then ended her post with hopeful message, looking forward to make the best out of another year. The picture accompanying the caption shows the former First Lady on a hiking trail with a number of women, presumed to be close personal friends. They stand, smiling and posing together in group, in front of two lush green mountains, large white clouds, a light blue sky and a rainbow.

Michelle is not the only one celebrating her birthday. In a post to his Instagram page, former President Barack Obama posted a heartfelt message to his wife of more than 25 years. “In every scene, you are my star, @MichelleObama! Happy birthday, baby!” The post also shows four black-and-white pictures, photo booth-style. The first photo shows Michelle cradling Barack’s head while he holds her waist. The second photo shows Barack planting a kiss on his wife’s cheek. The third photo shows Barack putting his hand on Michelle’s shoulder while he puts a “peace sign” with his other hand. The last photo shows the former President hugging his wife, back to the camera, while she smiles wide.
