James Franco Sued For Sexual Exploitation By Actresses Sarah Tither-Kaplan & Toni Gaal

Back in 2018 during the height of the Time’s Up and Me Too movement, celebrities were getting called out for their sexual misconduct, James Franco, 41, received a lot of attention. Time’s Up was founded in response to Harvey Weinstein‘s misconduct and in an effort to fight against sexual harassment. Franco was seen wearing a Time’s Up pin at a red carpet event, but his advocacy quickly rejected.

While Weinstein has been accused of rape and sexual abuse for a period of over 30 years, Franco had been accused of sexually exploiting the women who attended his all-female acting school. Among the number of aspiring actresses who spoke out were Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal who claimed that the Freaks and Geeks star would coerce them into doing sexual favors in return for employment opportunities, along with sexually exploit them in the guise of acting out scenes in class, in which he would push them into being nude on camera while performing sex scenes.

On October 3, Tither-Kaplan and Gaal filed a law suit against Franco in Los Angeles Superior Court. Franco’s attorney Michael Plonsker has rejected the allegations, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “This is not the first time that these claims have been made and they have already been debunked… James will not only fully defend himself, but will also seek damages from the plaintiffs and their attorneys for filing this scurrilous publicity seeking lawsuit.”
